Breaking News And Lucky Breaks
We seem to have a very happy knack of getting lucky and of things just falling into place for us. And so it was yesterday on Friday June 10th.
As Michaela dozes after a lengthy walk along Herne Bay seafront and I research California and Mexico whilst half watching the cricket on TV, a comment lands on our blog which makes me do a double take. It’s a “breaking news” item from our fellow travel bloggers at mochatruffalo https://fired47.com/author/mochatruffalo/ with the news from CNN that the US Government is about to drop the need for a negative COVID test.
Over the next few hours, several helpful and thoughtful people – friends, family and other bloggers – contact us to tell us the news, in the middle of which we receive the official confirmation on a Government email that the testing requirement is being dropped from midnight Sunday, less than 60 hours before we fly to LA.
We have a number of supposed lucky charms around our house which have come from our world travels, of course none of them can really affect things but whatever, we do seem to enjoy our fair share of good luck. Long may that continue!
And so with the COVID fence taken out of the equation, we’re on the verge of heading out to California for our exciting road trip and can’t wait to feel these temperatures…..

Heyjude
Great news! Those temperatures are a bit too hot for me, but I know you both love the heat.

Fantastic great news 🙌

Talk about great timing. Canada has been under a lot of pressure lately to do the same due to the long delays and wait times at the airport.

I thought Canada had already made the move?
WanderingCanadians
They did, but travellers arriving to Canada could be selected for mandatory random testing. A few days ago they temporarily suspended that though. Hopefully this should alleviate some of the lengthy lines at the airports.

Ah I see!

That’s been great news for many travellers and I’m pleased you’ll be among the first to benefit. It’s such a stress wondering if a positive test might get in the way of a departure!
