Our Philosophies
Our passports say we’re older travellers; our hearts say otherwise. We’re fit, we’re blessed with good health, so this is what we’re doing.
We love backpacking, we love adventure. If you billet yourself in a chain hotel, you haven’t travelled. So this is what we’re about: we are “hungry travellers “, we want to find the local culture, we want to be part of their community; we want to eat their food, drink in their bars, learn how their history has defined their culture, meet them, listen to them. We want as much as possible of our money to go into the pockets of the locals. So we try as much as possible to do this, and avoid paying money to international companies when it should be going straight to the local people. We are hungry to learn.
Yes this blog is to some degree about food; but it’s essentially about getting to know the culture, learning the history. As well as exploring food, we love trekking, we love walking, we love using public transport, we love any unusual experience. Travelling isn’t about staying in your comfort zone.
But our dream was always to give up the day jobs and set off to see the world. Our kind of travel is at its most fulfilling if it’s timeless. We’d just started living the dream when COVID arrived, but we’ve been resourceful in the two years of COVID and have enjoyed some fabulous journeys. The dream lives on….
