Art, Wine And Walks In Suffolk: Italy Next
After leaving Phil at the airport for his boys trip to Spain, I headed to Lowestoft in Suffolk to spend a few days with my Mum, needless to say it was a somewhat more sedate trip than Phil’s.
So many trips to our English east coast have been blighted by the English weather but on this occasion I was lucky enough to have beautiful blue skies for most of the time.
I always enjoy time spent with Mum and with the weather in our favour we enjoyed plenty of coastal walks and the Suffolk countryside.
Art featured lots too, with Mum being an established Suffolk artist @normareadartist we spent time preparing for her next exhibition and mooching around the galleries of the beautiful coastal town of Aldeburgh.
Norma Read portraits, Still life, animals and landscapes
Suffolk is also home to the gorgeous Blythburgh pigs, currently with so many playful piglets – the interaction amongst the sows was just fabulous to see. We were ever so slightly mesmerised for a while.
My week with Mum was fantastic, lots of talking of course, a fair amount of vino it goes without saying and not quite the tapas of Spain but a generous helping of good old fashioned fish and chips at the seaside was probably just as delicious!
Phil & I can’t stay still for long though, it’s already time to head to the airport. Next stop Bologna…

Thanks Linda, there are some lovely coastal areas here and the sunshine makes a difference.
Heyjude
Always good to have mother and daughter time alone.

And we always have so much fun

I like your photos with the slightly cloudy sky at the beach. It seems to be the same sky in the Norma Read landscape with the rolls. The good weather changes everything for the better.
Phil & Michaela
Thanks Lookoom, Suffolk skies can be fabulous, particularly for artists!

Your mum is so talented Michaela, her paintings are beautiful. I have to say you look more like sisters 🤭
Phil & Michaela
Thank you Alison, she is very talented. If you think we look alike in a photo, in real life our mannerisms are so similar, scares Phil at times 😆

Haha I can imagine

Great to see those beautiful beaches and Aldeburgh too – we loved our brief stay there a few years ago. I also love your mum’s landscapes – what a talent!
And next to Bologna; that’s another place I loved and oh the food!!

Thank you Sarah, she will be chuffed to bits with these lovely comments. So many lovey places in the area, she will never be short of local scenes to paint.

I am very jealous of people like your mum Michaela. Very talented indeed as others have said. It looks like you had a fantastic week full of all the good things in life. It seems almost cliche to say this, but you two look like sisters! Fish and Chips… argh, it’s been a while.

Thank you Leighton, we had an amazing week. I wish I had even a fraction of the talent she has, I certainly haven’t inherited her artistic flair, I think the best I can do is draw matchstick men! 😆

I enjoyed getting to “meet” your extremely talented mother, Michaela. I just went to her website and viewed her galleries and read about her. I loved her portrait of you, it seems to capture just how fun you must be. What a great time you two must have together. (The Blythburgh pigs are really cute, by the way, and the beach looks amazing.) I suspect it was a little hard to leave, but Bologna sounds fabulous. I will be looking forward to your posts.

Thank you Kelly, lovely of you to look at her Website, glad you like her work, I am very proud of her. We always have such fun when we are together, and we just don’t stop talking! 😁

I agree with you Michaela … spending time with my mum is always great! Your mum is an excellent artist – wow! And like I’ve said to Phil, tapas is a favourite … but I would never say no to good old fish and chips! Enjoy Bologna ✈️.

Thank you Corna! There is so much to catch up with when we return from our travels, we never stop talking 😁

Can’t get over how similar the two of you look, Michaela! I’m so happy you and Phil each got to do what you both wanted in your time away to recharge your batteries!
