Photographic Memories #17
Photo #17: Cornish Sunset
Our last photographic memory featured a sunset, and whilst on that subject we shouldn’t move on without mentioning Cornwall. I have been a regular visitor there for over 40 years now, and still get a feeling of excitement every time we cross the River Tamar and pass the Cornwall boundary sign. Having travelled to many wonderful places around the world, the Camel Estuary, with its heart at Padstow, remains one of our very favourite places on Earth. There’s actually two photos today, in the first you can see the twinkling evening lights of the village of Rock across the estuary dwarfed by the glowing sky, and the second, with its sumptuous colours decorating Padstow harbour, needs no further words.

Cornwall is not my favourite I have to say. It is too far to go from Grimsby and it is too busy for my liking so I prefer to go north. I used to work down there and would stay in a hotel in Truro, my favourite place was The Lizard. It has been on the TV a lot recently, has the Visit Cornwall Tourist Board been spending money?

It’s a long way from here too – 320 miles from Herne Bay to Padstow to be exact, unless you do M4/M5 which makes it over 350. Absolutely love Cornwall, I feel very at home there.

It is an eight hour drive for us, assuming no hold-ups. Luckily my sister lives in Gloucestershire so we can get a stop over.

Your stunning photos provided another incentive for us to tour Cornwall someday soon. Thanks for the reminder to push it further up the list.

Thank you Annie, will post many more photos of our upcoming trip to Cornwall next month.

I absolutely love Cornwall, we will be spending the whole month of May travelling around there by motorhome. Beautiful photos 😄

Hi Gilda, me too, as you can probably tell from those words. Cornwall is very special. We will be there in May too – from 7th to 21st!

I will be keeping an eye out for you guys 🙂

We will be based in Padstow so if you are in the area let us know and we can meet up. We will also be visiting other parts of the County so it would be good to catch up with you guys somewhere 😁

I’m a sucker for any photo of a sunset 🙃 … and when it involves water, even better!
Never been to Cornwall (but my brother and his family lives in the UK and they always tell us about the beauty of Cornwall) – I therefore love reading about this beautiful place!

Ah, Cornwall is a special place. Infact once lockdown has lifted we are heading there for a week in April and then 2 weeks in May. We will certainly be blogging whilst we are there so keep an eye out for those 😊Which part of the UK do your family live?

They live on the outskirts of Reading … we were planning to visit them this year, but hey, you know all about not going anywhere 😔.
Well, at least you can travel in your country – and I am looking forward reading about your Cornwall posts soon!

They are quite a bit closer to Cornwall wall than we are. We live on 5he South East Coast in Herne Bay, its a long 350 mile drive for us
