Lifted Spirits
Things are definitely looking better. The UK’s vaccination programme is racing ahead impressively quickly, and last Monday the Government released the so-called roadmap to recovery, with “earliest possible” dates for a number of the stages of the route to normality. For those of us waiting patiently to resume travelling the world, this is music to our ears.
With some kind of perfect symmetry, these announcements coincided with some beautiful weather as early Spring sunshine brought clear blue skies and glorious days throughout the week. We even had a spectacular full moon – the “Snow Moon”, the second full moon of a calendar year. Living both near the coast and in the countryside means we have plenty of options for walking, and this week has been good for it.
And just to cap a good week, Phil now has his two vaccination dates booked for early March and late May.
So suddenly life feels very different. Unless things change, from April we can travel within the UK with certain restrictions, from May pubs and hotels will be open, and after June, most restrictions will be lifted. And so we have a plan…
We now have three trips within the UK booked, one in each of April, May and June. Beyond that, our plan is that, as soon as we have each received our second vaccination, we will be looking to travel the world once again. Basically, once we are vaccinated, we will head wherever we are allowed, and where the sun will be shining. So we’re currently thinking we might just be off during July, set to travel once again for pretty much the second half of the year.
And for now, we look forward to our trips within the UK, and enjoy our walks in this early Spring sunshine.

The future looks a lot brighter and we can all start planning our travels again. We booked the whole month of May travelling in the UK and like yourselves we hope to travel abroad again soon. Congratulations on having your vaccines booked, we are still waiting for ours.

I am so thrilled for you both that the light is shining through at the end of this long, dark tunnel! To have dates for the vaccinations and plans for travel in the UK has to be music to your ears again after so much silence. I can’t wait to hear where your wanderlust will also take you come July when you venture further afield – keep us all posted!

Thank you Annie, we will also be blogging on our UK trips and share some beautiful parts of England and Wales with you.

As you say, easing restrictions is great news but which countries will allow us to visit!
Phil & Michaela
I suspect there’ll be direct correlation between the importance of tourism to their economy and their willingness to open borders!

Great news on the vaccine and lifting of travel restrictions! Domestic travel seems like the most sensible thing to do first. There are still so many wonderful destinations right in our own back yards. It shouldn’t be long now before we can globetrot again.
