Into The Unknown. A bit.

Somewhere in Jordan, Middle East

Well it’s April 1st 2019 and only a few days now until our next adventure, as on Friday (5th) we head off to Jordan. This will be our first time in the Middle East, and promises to be just a bit different. This one isn’t a true backpacking trip as we have booked all our accommodation ahead this time, mainly because the region is unfamiliar to us. We have a planned itinerary which goes something like this:-

Arrive Amman late Friday

Drive to Petra Saturday

3 days & 3 nights in Petra, staying in a village close to Wadi Musa, in a one bedroom Bedouin house

3 days & 3 nights in Wadi Rum, this time way out in the desert, staying in a Bedouin camp, in a tent under the desert stars

Drive back to Amman via the Dead Sea Highway, calling in for a dip in that weird sea.

3 days & 3 nights in Amman

What are we expecting? Well, we’re really not sure what the stay in the desert will bring, but the whole trip promises to be a terrific, and different, experience. Middle Eastern food, nights under the stars, the ancient site of Petra, the Dead Sea, and finally our first Middle East city. There won’t be much alcohol, if any, on this trip, meaning a dry birthday for Phil during our stay in Wadi Rum.

And so our 2019 journey continues. Budapest was first up, now comes Jordan, with trips to Italy and Greece already in the diary for the summer months. Jordan will be, for each of us, our 40th country visited, 33 of which we’ve visited together.

This one is going to be different.
